March 14: SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY
Our charitable organization is sponsoring the 2020 Lucky Leprechaun Race in downtown Utica Saturday March 14 2020. This is a 5K race/walk throughout the downtown and residential streets of Utica. The funds raised benefit the many local charities that the Utica Lions Club support. Some examples are the Leader Dogs for the Blind, the Beaumont Silent Children Fund, the Lions Bear Lake Camp, and the Penrickton Center for Blind.
We are seeking students to help serve in our race as Course Marshals. They will be assigned a spot and simply direct race participants in the proper direction throughout the course of the race. Students will receive a minimum of three service hours for their participation. They will also receive a food voucher for use after the race. This has become a very large race and it is always a lot of fun for the participants and for the volunteers.
Students will report to Hogs Hollow Smokehouse restaurant at 9:00am on Saturday March 14 for their assigned position. Their assignment is complete as soon as the last participant passes their assigned position and they are signaled by the Utica Police Department.
An additional advantage for a High School Senior is that participation as a volunteer for our event earns them additional points in their application process for our Utica Lions Scholarship Fund that is awarded annually. We will have scholarship information available to all interested applicants on the day of the race.
Please have students contact Chris Harris direct at 586-915-1396 to sign up or to answer any additional questions that they may have. They are welcome to bring friends with them and share in the fun.
